PC software delivers customised printing

LabelFive Premier, the new PC software, enables printers to deliver fast, low-cost labels and tickets.

LabelFive produces labels or tickets printed with barcode, address, identification, price and images, including photographs and stock and tracking information.

The design and printing software supports Windows 95, 98 and NT4.0 for use with any label, ticket, laser, inkjet or dot-matrix printer. It is Year 2000 compliant.

LabelFive also offers high speed printing control, using DCL (direct control language) for Eltron, TEC and Star label printers.

Features include text, image, standard and PDF417 barcode printing and Twain and Video For Windows image acquisition interfaces. Internal variable data sources include an Access-based database, date/time, keyboard input and global counter sources.

LabelFive also offers ODBC and SQL drivers for connection to almost any external database, database report printing, batch printing and user-defined security logins. Printing from third party applications is provided by the database-polling ?Autoprint? function: ideal for high volume production, it allows the use of several PCs to input details for fast output at any number of printers.

The Autoprint feature also enables a choice of printer to be made for each individual label or ticket, without user intervention, based on the label contents. This means that, by loading one printer with labelstock and another with plain paper, both labels and tickets can be produced in a single print run. It also allows the use of any existing database as a source for label or ticket information, without the need for changes to the database.
